The New Medicare Approved Assessment Tools are designed to determine a patient’s Medicare Rebate eligibility for an Type II Diagnostic Portable Home-based Sleep Test (HST).

 

A Medicare rebate for a HST applies under the following conditions:

1.       The patient is 18 years or over

2.       Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS) score of 8+

3.       STOP BANG score of 4+ OR OSA50 score of 5+

4.       The patient has NOT claimed for an In-home Sleep Study within 12 months
